Democratisation & Movement 2017
a conference on participatory democracy and local organising

All around the world, new movements with exploratory and, at the same time, radical approaches to politics and democracy are taking shape. They spring up from the cracks created as current systems of power are disassembling the welfare system, oppressing people and creating division in society. We can see this happen in places like Barcelona, Sollefteå, Gothenburg, Napels and Rojava

We invite you to a conference full of inspiration and experiences from various movements. As our main guests we are very pleased to welcome representatives from the Spanish citizen platform Barcelona en Comú. (More information on Barcelona en Comú here.)

How can local organisation and participatory democracy strengthen social movements and contribute to a progressive societal development? This conference offers space for conversations, for exchanging and developing thoughts and practices – a meeting place, where we can establish new connections and build networks.
